Tales on Two Wheels

Cycling Blog

Hi! I am Kristi June, founder of Tales on Two Wheels.  I am a cycling enthusiast with a serious passion and respect for the sport. I'm addicted to cycling...One could say, obsessed, always wanting to ride and to educate myself more about the sport.  The creation of this blog is inspired by the desire to celebrate and promote cycling and cyclists through writing and photography. Why? Cyclists are awesome! Bicycles and bike gear are awesome (although spandex is an acquired taste)!  Currently, I am the only contributing writer, but hopefully in the future, I can find other writers who love writing about cycling and cycling events. If you are interested in writing on Tales on Two Wheels, email me at TalesOnTwoWheels@gmail.com, If I publish it on the site, I will, of course, give you all the credit. I hope you feel inspired to ride (and write about it) after reading Tales on Two Wheels!

Bicycle Love

Bicycle Love

Why start a cycling blog? First and foremost, I am in love with cycling. I have caught bike fever, and now, I wake up every day thinking: when can I ride my bike? Even when planning a vacation, I want to bring the bike and find a new route. When I am on the bike, the world and all of its stress disappears, and when I descend on a big hill, hit 40 mph and my stomach tingles with a nervous sensation, I feel freer and more alive than any other time in my life. So, the simple answer to why I want to start Tales on Two Wheels is that it is hard to have so much passion for cycling and to not tell people about it. Some of you may be lost and probably thinking, “Uh, okay, it’s just a bike. She is off her rocker!” My response: There are people out there just like me who love their bike/s and cycling, and I want those people to share their stories of riding on Tales on Two Wheels. Today, I would like to share my vision and ask for everyone’s help in making my vision a reality. My vision for Tales on Two Wheels is to be a site where you can find cycling stories from all over the globe. Tales on Two Wheels is not only mine. It belongs to all cyclists, all over the world, young and old, all skill levels and all interest levels. It belongs to you! I want anyone who has a cycling story, poem, blurb…anything…to share about riding his or her bicycle to have the platform to share it with the world. Tales on Two Wheels will be a collection of cycling stories. How cool would it be to read stories about people riding their bikes all across the world…in Oregon, Arizona, California, New York, Florida, Australia, England, Ireland, and Africa? I want people to share their stories because stories have power…power to inspire, comfort, encourage, and motivate. Without seeing and experiencing other people’s motivation and inspiration for the bike, I would not have discovered my own passion for cycling. I have been inspired and still am inspired by my boyfriend, my friends, and the people at Epic Bikes--Tim, Eric, Steve and Micah. Most of all, if it wasn’t for Southern Crescent Cycling, I could have never made it this far as a rider. The group rides have been priceless. Since other people have shared their passion for the bike with me, it is time that I give back in my own way, by sharing my cycling stories and inviting others to share their stories as well. Some of the people who have inspired me to improve the most have been people who race their bikes, so occasionally, I will write on local cycling events as a way to celebrate the sport of cycling and the amazing athletes that do train so hard to compete. They are wonderful sources of inspiration and positive role models that should be recognized! I believe that some of these local cyclists have the potential to go very far in the sport of cycling. With a little bit of time, nurturing, and luck I hope that they make it as pro cyclists, and I hope that Tales on Two Wheels can get to know these amazing athletes and write on them as they become even better athletes. It is important to share our experiences on the bike because behind those stories reveal the reasons we cycle, and even though cyclists are not a unified group, it shows our human side as cyclists. We are kindred spirits in a way because we share a secret…shh...the awesomeness of riding a bicycle. Some motorist on the road only see us as annoyances, nuisances to be dealt with on the ride home, but we are more than a hindrance to getting home sooner. My hope is that everyone who reads Tales on Two Wheels, cyclists and non-cyclists alike, will be inspired to ride his or her bike. If you like the vision for Tales on Two Wheels, please contribute to the blog and tell others about the site. I will publish stories anonymously if you request me to do so, and I will proofread all writing that I post on the blog. Send all stories to talesontwowheels@gmail.com. Thank you so much for reading and don’t forget to subscribe to Tales on Two Wheels and send me your cycling tale!
